Raiatea is Polynesia’s most sacred island. It is thought to be the birthplace of this ancestral and powerful people, who conquered the Pacific islands thanks to their mastery of navigation. It boasts the largest sacred site in Polynesia: the Taputapuatea marae, which you’ll have the opportunity to discover on this island tour.
The island is rather large and wild, so you can drive around in your rental car and discover its magnificent landscapes, bays, panoramas and viewpoints. A typical local lunch will be served on a private Motu, and you’ll have the chance to enjoy it on tables right on the water! Cultural activities include coconut-opening techniques, weaving and many other surprises!
Take a self-guided tour of the island with your rental car. Taha’a is an authentic, unspoilt Leeward Island in the Society Islands archipelago. It is world-renowned for the quality of its vanilla, making it one of the world’s leading exporters.
It shares the same lagoon as neighboring Raiatea, Polynesia’s most sacred island. Together, these islands have fewer than 20,000 inhabitants, unlike Tahiti, which has 200,000! So you’ll come across far fewer people, and the atmosphere is much calmer and more conducive to relaxation! You’ll enjoy beautiful beaches, including Joe Dassin’s famous beach, coral gardens and visits to agricultural sites such as rum factories, pearl farms and vantilleries.
